Celtics Injuries a Cause for Concern

Buzzworthy - Feature It!

Almost at the mid way point of the season and the Celtics are starting to pile up the injuries once again. First it was Marquis Daniels who injured his thumb and doesn’t look like he will return until mid February. Daniels is a key component to the team because not only can he step in and play a multitude of positions including point guard but he is also a threat to post up smaller guards and get them into foul trouble. Daniels has also been a good defender for a Celtics team that strives itself on that end of the court. He has long arms and has the capabilities to guard three different positions which will only make the Celtics better when he makes his return.

Kevin Garnett is currently sidelined with a knee injury that has every Celtics fan wondering if this is last year all over again. The Celtics are saying it is day to day and he is expected to be out for another 10 days. That sounds awfully familiar to last year when the Celtics didn’t say much but that Garnet was day to day and off course he ended up missing the rest of the season. The Celtics need a healthy Garnett is they are going to win a championship this season. It may be a blessing in disguise as these games he is not playing are a good chance for him to get some rest and also allows guys like Glen Davis and Sheldon Williams to get more minutes.   Rasheed Wallace is the most recent injury missing the last two games with a foot injury. It doesn’t appear to be too serious but it’s worth noting. Hopefully he can get back soon because with him and Garnett out at the same time the Celtics are suddenly thin in the frontcourt. Wallace has been effective at stretching the defense but I think his best asset is his post game.   The Celtics have managed to survive the injuries thus far but we all know the key to a championship run is health and the Celtics will be a much better team when all three of the above mentioned guys get back in the lineup and try to contribute to banner #18
